The accommodation is a traditional Xhosa rondavel, made from mud, thatch and a cow dung floor. You will be able to experience authentic African village life. Beds with clean linen is provided and evening meals can also be arranged if required.
We have built "green" ablutions with an inside and an outside paraffin shower with a living roof, as well as two dry composting toilets. They were constructed using clay brick, earth mortar, cob, earth plaster & as much recycled material as possible. We used bamboo for gutter, bottles for windows and old potijie pots for basins. The alternative style was an attempt to limit the environmental impact and to try utilize traditional Xhosa building methods.
